Van Gogh's DisabilitiesVan Gogh had some disabilities in his life along with other diseases. He had a disability called Hypergraphia. This disorder made Van Gogh want to write constantly. Some people believed that he wrote over 800 letters because of Hypergraphia. Van Gogh had Thujone poisoning. To cure the attacks from epilepsy, anxiety, and depression, he drank absinthe. It worked but he started seeing objects in yellow. He had an eccentric personality and unstable moods, suffered from recurrent psychotic attacks. He cut off his ears because of these diseases or disorders. The picture on the left is a portrait of Van Gogh with his ear cut off.
